COSTA MESA, CA – Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in San Jose, Calif., had outgrown its land-locked building of 350 seats. They were doing everything to accommodate the expanding congregation, including multiple services and overflow rooms. But the increasingly splintered feel created by so much division in time and space of what was actually one community, coupled with a undersized parking lot, spurred the church to search for a new building.

NORTHRIDGE, CA — Indianapolis, Ind.-based IRC Audio designed and installed a new sound system for Worthen Arena at Ball State University. The arena is home to Ball State’s basketball and volleyball teams, as well as a variety of concerts and university events. Because of spatial constraints in the existing structure, IRC Audio chose VerTec VT4887 compact line arrays for their small size and light weight.

(Electrosonic) has performed a system upgrade to the Concert Hall at Independence Seaport Museum at Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia, to transform the theatre into a technologically-advanced space for the deaf and hearing-challenged communities in the city and beyond.

The Soundcraft GB Series has gained another new member, the Soundcraft GB2R. This 19-inch rack-mountable mixer is designed for smaller installations in churches and performance venues, or for small portable PA systems. Available in two variants, the GB2R offers either 16 mono inputs to a stereo mix output, or a 12.2 version with 12 mono inputs, two full-feature stereo inputs and two group busses, each model having six auxiliary sends.

BUENA PARK, CA. – A new sound system has recently been installed at the Memorial Auditorium in Pittsburg, Kan. The system brings the auditorium performance level up to the demands of its extensive calendar of events. Prior to the new system installation, the theatre had been experiencing several problems: It had not been updated since 1984 except for some “piece-meal” repairs over the years, patrons complained about the system being noisy and hard to comprehend, and rental systems were required for some of the visiting performers. 

BATON ROUGE, LA – Premier Production and Sound Services (PSS) provided full audio and lighting production for Dennis DeYoung’s recent concert at the Baton Rouge River Center in Louisiana. The performance featured classic hits from DeYoung’s tenure as front man for Styx including Come Sail Away and Mr. Roboto, as well as songs from DeYoung’s solo albums. The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra provided musical accompaniment along with DeYoung’s current five-piece rock ensemble. 

BELLEVUE, WA – Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna announced his candidacy for reelection in style at a recent breakfast gala attended by over 2,000 supporters at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, Wash. Working together with the Blue Danube production company and Hollywood Lights, Mills Music of Seattle provided sound reinforcement for the event, deploying a Dynacord Cobra-2 compact line array system.
