LONDON — Developed more than six decades ago, AKG achieved an international breakthrough in recording and broadcast technology with the introduction of its first dynamic microphone, the D12. This first-of-its-kind microphone became a staple studios and performance stages around the world, setting the standard for voice transmission in the 1950s and ’60s as well as becoming a standard for capturing low-freuency, high SPL sources such as bass drums. At the PLASA 2012 show, AKG debuted the new D12 VR, a large-diaphragm cardioid microphone intended specifically for kick drum applications.

LONDON — At the 2012 PLASA show, Klark Teknik unveiled the DN9610 AES Repeater. The unit is an easy to use, cost-effective solution for extending AES50 multichannel digital audio network connections (Cat-5e/Cat-6 cabling) to greater distances than previously achievable.

With two independent AES50 ports, the DN9610 is capable of extending two AES50 streams by up to 100m (330ft) and multiple DS9610s can be daisy chained in series for longer runs. Each AES50 feed can carry 24 bidirectional channels at 96 kHz or 48 bidirectional channels at 48 kHz.

LOS ANGELES — Jan-Al Cases announces the release of its new line of Rhino ATA road cases for the Yamaha CL Series of digital consoles. “We just delivered our first CL5 case to our longtime customer, Hollywood Sound.” says company owner / designer Jan Michael Alejandro. “From all the calls we are getting about cases for the CL Series consoles, this appears to be another ‘hit’ for Yamaha Commercial Audio.”
