CHICAGO, IL – When Mango Audio began their research to add a new line array solution to their production arsenal, all roads lead them to the RCF TT+ Series.
More details from RCF USA (www.rcf-usa.com):
“We were looking for a rig that could handle the wide variety of events we are involved in,” said Mango owner Oscar Villegas, “from indoor events of 2,000 to outdoor festivals of 20,000+.”
They found the RCF TTL33-A a perfect solution. A three-way line array cabinet, the active 2500-watt TTL33-A features two 8” low-frequency transducers, an 8” midrange and three 1” high frequency drivers. Small enough to fill their banquet hall and ballroom events, yet large enough for festivals.
The Chicago-based Mango Audio is the main provider for Midwest events ranging from the annual Chicago Cuban and Puerto Rican festivals to national soccer tours to Quinceanera coming of age parties.
Villegas points out the choice of the TTL33-A goes beyond the cabinet itself, noting the package of software support RCF provides with the TT+ Theater and Touring Series including RDNet management and monitoring software along with the Shape Designer modelling program.
“With Shape Designer, we can model a room before we ever get on site,” says Villegas. The program provides a graph of SPL coverage, and provides all the mechanical positioning of the cabinets to vastly reduce the time of set up on site.
And RDNet provides the ability to fine tune the cabinets based on room size, environment and conditions. Parameters of gain, equalization and delay can be properly programmed. Plus, the RDNet allows for monitoring of all individual components in the cabinets at assure the show runs smooth.
Villegas also mentions how the support of RCF was a determining factor. “The first time we used the system live was at the Chicago International Salsa Congress (www.chicagosalsacongress.com), and RCF technical support personnel were on hand for assurance.”
For the event (pictured here at set up), Mango Audio flew four RCF TTL33-A per side with a pair of dB Technologies DVA-S30N double 18” subwoofers under each array. In addition, they utilized 10 dB Technologies DVX-DM 15 stage monitors along with a pair of RCF NX-L24a on top of dB Technologies DVA-S10DP subwoofers on stage.
