GREENFIELD, IN – Bob Williams, who purchased Mid-America Sound from founder Kerry Darrenkamp with partner Jason Wells in 2016 and had been serving as its CEO, died Sept. 17. He was 60.

Both Williams and Wells had worked as employees at Mid-America Sound for more than 25 years before buying the lighting and sound company from Darrenkamp, who had co-founded the company with Rob King in 1975.

“Bob was the lighting guy,” Wells said, which complemented Wells’ background on the audio side of live event production. Mid-America Sound started offering lighting systems to its audio clients in 1986.

Earlier in the 1980s, before joining Mid-America Sound, Williams worked as a freelance lighting consultant on film and TV projects while also taking on acting, stunt man and voice talent gigs.

Prior to his professional career, Williams studied at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis.

Visitation and funeral arrangements are being made by Flanner Buchanan’s location in Geist, IN with services set for Friday, Sept. 24; for details go to www.flannerbuchanan.com.
