Rat Sound Provides L-Acoustics for Pearl Jam Concerts Raising Funds for the Needy

SEATTLE – Rat Sound Systems provided an L-Acoustics K1/K2 loudspeaker system for Pearl Jam’s two sold-out “Home Shows” at Seattle’s Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners MLB team (recently renamed T-Mobile Park). The band donated $868,189 from tickets and merch for nonprofits supporting the homeless in the greater Seattle area, and awareness raised by the two gigs helped close to 170 affiliated organizations raise a reported $10 million more.

Solotech Acquires U.K.-Based SSE Audio Group

MONTREAL – Solotech, an increasingly international company with operations in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, announced that it has acquired SSE Audio Group, the largest supplier of professional audio services in the U.K. Solotech called the acquisition “the most important transaction in Solotech’s history.”

Blackhawk Audio, ATK Audiotek Support 52nd Annual CMA Awards

NASHVILLE – The 52nd Annual CMA Awards, held Nov. 14 at Bridgestone Arena, got an audio assist from Blackhawk Audio president Rick Shimer, who used a DiGiCo SD7 at FOH for the music performances heard via JBL VerTec 4889 and VTX V20 enclosures within the venue. ATK Audiotek principal Pat Baltzell used an SD5 to mix the production audio for the event, which was broadcast live on ABC. (The desks for the event are pictured here.) Performers used their preferred mic systems, including Shure and Sennheiser.
