ATK Audiotek Supports Audio for Grammy Awards at Staples Center

LOS ANGELES – ATK Audiotek oversaw the live audio production within 21,000-capacity Staples Center on Feb. 10 for the 61st Grammy Awards ceremony hosted by Alicia Keys. The crew coordinated a vast array of gear including JBL speakers, Crown amps, DiGiCo consoles and Shure, Audio-Technica and Sennheiser wireless systems. The event returned to the West Coast after the 60th event was staged at Madison Square Garden last year. Featured performers this year included Dolly Parton and Album of the Year winner Kacey Musgraves (pictured here) singing into custom Shure Axient Digital wireless mics.

Oregon Church Installs Nexo M6 Line Arrays and Yamaha QL5 Console

DALLAS, OR – Alpha Sound of Salem, Oregon recently installed a NEXO M6 line array and Yamaha QL5 Digital Audio Console into the Valley Life Center located in Dallas, Oregon. Devin Sheets, head engineer at Alpha Sound, and Roger Shinn, Tech Director at the church, credited the gear for sound quality within the 400-seat sanctuary. Shinn also lauded the smartphone app that lets church performers optimize their own monitor mixes and the sound crew’s ability to use Alpha Sound’s saved digital settings as a starting point for the FOH mix every week.

Sennheiser Announces New Pro Audio Solutions Channel Team

WEDEMARK, Germany – Sennheiser announced that John Falcone, (pictured here, left) will retire in Oct. 2019, and that Mark Posgay (pictured right) is assuming Falcone’s role as SVP, Global Sales, Pro Audio Solutions. Sennheiser also noted Pro Audio Solutions division promotions for Christophe van den Berghe (to VP, Sales and Marketing, EMEA), Simon Holley (to VP, Sales and Marketing, Americas/ANZ) and Vince Tan (to VP, Sales, APAC).

Sound Designer Peter Hylenski Uses Waves Gear for Disney’s “Frozen the Musical”

NEW YORK – Grammy, Tony and Olivier Award-nominated sound designer Peter Hylenski (Frozen, King Kong, Motown, Rock of Ages) used a variety of products from Waves Audio for Disney’s Frozen the Musical at the St. James Theater on Broadway, including Waves plugins, SoundGrid and MultiRack. He detailed how the technologies helped him with sound effects and the illusion of voices approaching from a distance along with sound reinforcement.
