Montreal Jazz Festival Sings with Solotech

MONTREAL, QUEBEC —The first Festival International de Jazz de Montréal was held at Man and His World (the former Expo ’67 World Fair site) and attracted 12,000 spectators. Twenty-seven years later, the Montreal Jazz Festival had some 30 countries represented with 500 concerts, attracting over two million attendees, many which travel to Montreal every year to join in the festivities. Celebrity guests included Bob Dylan, Harry Connick, Jr. and Keith Jarrett among others.

Summer Concerts Rock Out with Heil Sound

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL — As Billy Gibbons said recently, “Yep, we’re the same three guys and the same three chords.” That little old band from Texas, ZZ Top, has been touring this summer with Heil Sound PR 30 and PR 40’s used by drummer Frank Beards. A pair of PR 30’s is being used on Gibbon’s guitar cabinets, and a pair of PR 40’s on Dusty Rhodes bass rig. Also along on this tour are the Stray Cats with Brian Setzer, who is using PR 30’s on his guitar cabs. Clair Brothers is providing the production for the tour.

Diana Ross Says I Love You With Meyer Sound MILO

BERKELEY, CA — Legendary vocalist Diana Ross, on tour in support of her latest release, I Love You, performed a limited series of U.S. dates before embarking on a European arena tour earlier this year. During the brief U.S. jaunt, Thunder Audio (Taylor, Mich.) supplied a Meyer Sound loudspeaker system for her performances at the Chicago Theatre and the Palace of Auburn Hills, located just outside of Ross’s hometown of Detroit.

Miss Saigon Adds Meyer Sound to Repertoire

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA —A new production of the musical Miss Saigon has opened in Australia, scaled back from its original large-scale format to accommodate a wider range of theatres. To deliver audio coverage with a smaller footprint than previous Miss Saigon productions, sound designer Peter Grubb, a director of System Sound Pty Ltd. of Melbourne, Australia, modified his previous design for the Korean production to a configuration incorporating eight self-powered M'elodie ultra-compact high-power curvilinear array loudspeakers.
