Ricardo Tross Supports Latin Artists with Customized SD11

NEW YORK — For mixing and recording a variety of Latin bands, engineer Ricardo Tross created a portable system for his DiGiCo SD11 housed in a Hybrid case, with two DT12 mass connectors uniting 12 wireless Sennheiser systems and two dbx DriveRack 260s for front of house and monitors. The SD11 has a custom flip-up tray for a Mac laptop, a mounted removable LED flashlight and a Leatherman multipurpose tool.

Event Safety Alliance Meets with Indiana Governor, Safety Officials

INDIANAPOLIS — Members of the Event Safety Alliance, including founding members John Brown of Brown United, Inc. and Jim Digby, production manager for Linkin Park, met April 23 with Indiana governor Mitch Daniels and state safety officials to discuss ways for the entertainment industry and government to work together in the interest of life safety. The meeting included officials from the NFPA, IATSE, IDHS, IOSHA and Daniels’ staff.

H.A.S. Productions Provides EAW Gear for ACM-Related Event

LAS VEGAS — H.A.S. Productions provided EAW’s KF740 line array modules and SB2001 large format subwoofers for “The ACM Experience,” a three-day series of events leading up to the 47th annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards. The ACM Experience drew thousands outside the Mandalay Bay resort over a three-day span to hear J.T. Hodges, Craig Morgan, Eli Young Band, Thompson Square, John Rich and Steel Magnolia perform. The ACM Awards were staged at the nearby MGM Grand on April 1.

Prince Band Members Stage Benefit for American Heart Association

MINNEAPOLIS — Prince’s band, The Revolution, which marked the one-year anniversary of drummer “Bobby Z” Rivkin’s survival of a near-fatal heart attack with a performance in February, also using the occasion to raise awareness and money for MyPurpleHeart.org and the American Heart Organization. The event, which drew 1,500 to First Avenue in Minneapolis, was also supported by longtime crew members including FOH engineer Rob “Cubby” Colby, who mixed the benefit show on a DiGiCo SD7.

Starlite Productions, Metropolitan Acoustics Provide Networked System for HS Auditorium

WARMINSTER, PA — Working with Metropolitan Acoustics, Starlite Productions upgraded the audio system at William Tennent High School’s 2,000-seat auditorium here as part of a building-wide renovation. The system was engineered to provide high-intelligibility for presentations and rich, encompassing sound for live concerts and theatrical productions. The client, the Centennial School District, also wanted to complete the project in 90 days.
