Sennheiser’s RF Wireless Sound Academy Seminar Set for NYC Aug. 6

NEW YORK — Sennheiser is presenting its RF Wireless Sound Academy Seminar Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Musicians Union Local 802, 322 W 48th St., New York. The event will be led by Joe Ciaudelli and Volker Schmitt. Participants completing the course are eligible for six InfoComm CTS RU credits. The $199 fee includes continental breakfast, full lunch, workshop materials and a $50 rebate on Sennheiser and Neumann gear.

Last Chance for Hometown Hero Voting, “IT” Award Nominations

LAS VEGAS — This is the last full week for FRONT of HOUSE readers to vote for regional finalists in the 2012 Hometown Hero awards competition. Aug. 1 is also the deadline for nominating products for Indispensable Technology “IT” Awards. Along with regional bragging rights, the six Hometown Hero finalists (one for each of five U.S. regions, and one for all of Canada) will find their place on the final Parnelli ballot, which is due to go online in early September.

FOH Engineer Uses Avid Gear for Show Honoring Big Star

AUSTIN, TX — FOH engineer Nick Pellicciotto used an Avid VENUE SC48 Remote System at FOH and a VENUE SC48 at monitors for a unique gathering of rock artists influenced by the band Big Star. They convened at the Paramount Theatre here to perform tracks from the 1974 album, Third/Sister Lovers. Pellicciotto’s mission was two-fold: to help the artists re-create the original sound of the album, and to also record the show for later release.

DALLAS — Longtime V-DOSC Rental Network company Onstage Systems, based here, recently purchased a full K1 stadium loudspeaker system including 48 K1 line source elements and 24 K1-SB subs, 48 KUDO and 12 KARA elements, 48 SB28 and four SB18 subs, and 30 LA-RAK touring amplifier racks, each with three LA8 amplified controllers.

Peavey MediaMatrix NION Training Seminar Set for Bay Area July 30-31

EMERYVILLE, CA — Peavey Commercial Audio will host a two-day MediaMatrix NION Certification training course for AV designers, consultants, contractors and end users. Renkus-Heinz Gear Installed in Kauffman Center’s Helzberg Hall

KANSAS CITY, MO — The new 1,600-home to the Kansas City Symphony, Helzberg Hall within the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts’ 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall has been equipped with a Renkus-Heinz sound system, including Renkus-Heinz ST-Series reference point arrays. There are L-R clusters of ST4 and ST-2M cabinets, plus ST2-R and ST2-MR for sidefills,  TRX62H for balcony fills and 12 PNX112 subwoofers (built into the stage lip). An additional 72 Iconyx SSL drivers built into a custom baffle inside the balcony provide additional coverage, and three Iconyx IC16-5 digitally steered arrays are for voice reinforcement.
