Harman Announces Changes in Lighting Division’s Top Management

STAMFORD, CT — After completing its acquisition of Martin Professional A/S of Denmark, Harman announced on March 6 that Lars Dige Knudsen, a 17-year Martin veteran, most recently as CFO, would be taking over for Martin’s previous CEO, Christian Engsted, who has left the company. Knudsen’s new title at Harman is Vice President, General Manager, Lighting Strategic Business Unit. Harman also announced that Villads Thomsen, a 14-year Martin veteran, most recently as VP Sales/EMEA, had been promoted to VP of Global Sales for the Lighting Strategic Business Unit.

Minneapolis Theater Gets Total Control

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis recently upgraded with a myMix monitor mixing system consisting of 17 myMix mix stations, three IEX 16L-A input expanders and a myMix Control/networking interface. The facility’s master audio engineer Ross Anderson talked about how myMix helps the staff produce consistent, quality live theater.

ATK Audiotek Deploys JBL Gear for 85th Academy Awards

LOS ANGELES – The 85th Academy Awards, held Feb. 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, featured a sound reinforcement system designed by Pat Baltzell of Baltzell Audio Design. ATK Audiotek deployed the gear for the system. The main PA included 30 JBL VerTec VT4889 speakers and 16 VT4880 subs, with 16 VT4886 elements for side fills and six JBL MS28 loudspeakers for under-balcony coverage. Sixty-five JBL Control 25T surface-mount loudspeakers were also temporarily installed under audience seats in the VIP seating area.

San Lorenzo High School Installs Turnkey PA System from Technomad

SAN LORENZO, CA — For San Lorenzo High School’s outdoor stadium, the San Lorenzo Unified School District contracted with Hayward, CA-based Lloyd F. McKinney Associates to manage the installation of a new sound system. The 1,500-capacity stadium has been equipped with Technomad gear including four weatherproof loudspeakers and a pre-wired signal processing equipment rack.

AUSTIN, TX — For Hope Presbyterian Church here, Dickensheets Design Associates specified a loudspeaker array composed of three different Bose RoomMatch modules —RM9010, RM12040 and RM9060 loudspeakers — powered by PowerMatch amplifiers. The system, installed by Ace Audio Communications, also got the thumbs-up from the church’ s music minister, musicians and pastor after attending an in-church demo arranged by consultant Ken Dickensheets.

Federal Budget Sequestration Forces U.S. Coast Guard Band to Cancel Tour

NEW LONDON, CT — The U.S. Coast Guard Band announced that it would be forced to cancel its tour of the Southeast from March 6-15 due to budget reductions stipulated by the federal budget sequestration that went into effect March 1. The band had shows scheduled in Clearwater, Tampa and Bradenton, FL; Valdosta, GA; Mobile, and Tuscaloosa, AL; Germantown, TN and Oxford, MS.

Masque Sound Supports Sound of “The Book Of Mormon” in Chicago

CHICAGO — For The Book of Mormon at the Bank of America Theatre here, Masque Sound is providing Sennheiser MKE-1 microphones for the lead actors and MKE-2s for various other cast members. Other gear includes DPA 4061 microphones, L-Acoustics speakers and a DiGiCo UB MADI interface sound console — used to route a QLab directly to a Digico SD7, digitally.
