LOS ANGELES – The 85th Academy Awards, held Feb. 24 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, featured a sound reinforcement system designed by Pat Baltzell of Baltzell Audio Design. ATK Audiotek deployed the gear for the system. The main PA included 30 JBL VerTec VT4889 speakers and 16 VT4880 subs, with 16 VT4886 elements for side fills and six JBL MS28 loudspeakers for under-balcony coverage. Sixty-five JBL Control 25T surface-mount loudspeakers were also temporarily installed under audience seats in the VIP seating area.

DENVER — Akustiks specified an L-Acoustics audio system for the 2,634-seat Boettcher Concert Hall at the Denver Performing Arts Complex that includes ARCS II and KIVA gear for the venue’s in-the-round layout. McKinney Associates to manage the installation of a new sound system.
