San Lorenzo High School Installs Turnkey PA System from Technomad

SAN LORENZO, CA — For San Lorenzo High School’s outdoor stadium, the San Lorenzo Unified School District contracted with Hayward, CA-based Lloyd F. McKinney Associates to manage the installation of a new sound system. The 1,500-capacity stadium has been equipped with Technomad gear including four weatherproof loudspeakers and a pre-wired signal processing equipment rack.

AUSTIN, TX — For Hope Presbyterian Church here, Dickensheets Design Associates specified a loudspeaker array composed of three different Bose RoomMatch modules —RM9010, RM12040 and RM9060 loudspeakers — powered by PowerMatch amplifiers. The system, installed by Ace Audio Communications, also got the thumbs-up from the church’ s music minister, musicians and pastor after attending an in-church demo arranged by consultant Ken Dickensheets.

Federal Budget Sequestration Forces U.S. Coast Guard Band to Cancel Tour

NEW LONDON, CT — The U.S. Coast Guard Band announced that it would be forced to cancel its tour of the Southeast from March 6-15 due to budget reductions stipulated by the federal budget sequestration that went into effect March 1. The band had shows scheduled in Clearwater, Tampa and Bradenton, FL; Valdosta, GA; Mobile, and Tuscaloosa, AL; Germantown, TN and Oxford, MS.

PALO ALTO, CA — For 842-seat Bing Concert Hall, a $111.9 million projected completed in January, Stanford University turned to Fisher Dachs Associates (FDA), J. R. Clancy and Western Theatrical for a rigging solution to the challenge posed by the new venue’s large, sail-like acoustical wall and ceiling panels specified by acoustic designer Yasuhisa Toyota of Nagata Acoustics.

Oscars and Grammys Mixed on DiGiCo Consoles

LOS ANGELES —DiGiCo digital consoles and Optocore networks handled the elaborate needs of two major awards show productions recently — the 55th annual Grammy Awards, broadcast live from the Staples Center on Feb. 10 and seen by 28.37 million viewers on CBS (crew pictured here), and the 85th annual Academy Awards, staged at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood Feb. 24 with a live broadcast on ABC that peaked at 42.4 million viewers.
