Epic Production Technologies Scales Back

WINNIPEG — Epic Production Technologies, once a major North American provider of concert and theatrical audio gear as well as lighting and staging, appears to have sharply scaled back its operations. Press reports noted layoffs at company locations in Winnipeg and Burnaby Canada and in Oxnard, CA. Senior executives including Marc Raymond, Ted Fowler and Brian Konechny are also reportedly no longer working for the company.

NASHVILLE, TN — Adamson Systems and Sound Image drew FOH engineers and others to the Fellowship Church at Two Rivers here Jan. 3-4 for an Adamson Energia demo. It was hosted by Jesse Adamson and Matt Gunn from Adamson Systems and Everett Lybolt and Dave Shadoan from Sound Image. Andrew Dowling, Rob Zombie’s systems engineer, did the system design, setup, and provided a complete rigging overview.

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek Venue Installs L-Acoustics KARA

COCONUT CREEK, FL — Beachsound provided an L-Acoustics KARA system for the new live music showroom at the Seminole Casino here. The venue, called The Pavilion, is a Sprung structure that was converted into a 1,200-seat performance facility during the casino’s recent $150 million expansion. The system includes KARA and SB18 hangs complemented with ground-stacked SB28 subs and 8XT front-fills across the stage lip.

ATK Audiotek Rolls Out JBL VerTec Line Arrays for Super Bowl XLVII Entertainment

NEW ORLEANS — Providing audio services for the Super Bowl for the 16th straight year, ATK Audiotek deployed its custom-designed, cart-based audio system for Super Bowl XLVII, held at the Superdome in New Orleans. Once again, ATK Audiotek equipped its carts with Harman’s JBL VerTec line array loudspeakers for the Halftime Show featuring Beyoncé. The carts were also used for when Jennifer Hudson joined the Sandy Hook Elementary School Choir for a rendition of “America the Beautiful,” and also for Alicia Keys, who performed “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

New Blue Man Group Production in Las Vegas Mixed on DiGiCo Consoles

LAS VEGAS — For the new Blue Man Group (BMG) production at the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino here, sound supervisor Marcus Ross worked with Solotech to provide an audio system with 141 inputs/outputs that includes a d&b audiotechnik J-Series PA, Meyer Cinema Speaker Surround monitors and a DiGiCo SD7 console at FOH. A DiGiCo SD8 was added a few months later to handle additional audio production elements from behind the curtain.
