AES July 25-27 Conference to Emphasize Education and Include Live Sound

MURFREESBORO, TN — The Audio Engineering Society (AES) announced that its 50th International Conference, set for July 25-27 at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) here, will be dedicated specifically to audio education. It will focus on teaching methods, instructional resources, learning outcomes, technical operations, industry relations, and related topics, and also include a significant focus on live sound.

Audio-Technica U.S. Names Alliance Audio Visual Group Rep of the Year

MGM Grand’s Hakkasan Nightclub Installs Turbosound Gear

LAS VEGAS, NV — Audiotek’s Frank Murray specified Turbosound gear for Hakkasan, the new 10,000-square-foot, five-level nightclub at the MGM Grand on the Las Vegas Strip. The speaker setup starts with 24 TFA-600HW Flex Array modules and 12 TFA-600L cabinets, with a dance floor system that features six ground-stacked TFA-600B single 18” bass cabinets and three TFS-900Bi dual 18” subwoofers. Twenty-two TCX-8 and eight NuQ-6 loudspeakers supply under-balcony fill. Upstairs, an additional 21 TCX-8 are installed above the balcony..

Jazz In The Barn Concert Featuring Peter Appleyard Mixed with Lawo

TORONTO Canadian jazz vibraphonist Peter Appleyard celebrated his 85th birthday with a performance at his vintage barn in Nassagaweya Township, Ontario, which dates from 1895. The event was captured for posterity using a mc²56 MKII mixing console from Lawo. The console was also used for the live mix, and to drive a single loudspeaker to provide the pianist and vocalist with a monitor mix of the wind, brass, and bass signals.
