Harman to Acquire AMX LLC for $365 Million

STAMFORD, CT — Harman noted that it has signed an agreement with The Duchossois Group, Inc. and its affiliates to acquire AMX LLC for $365 million. AMX is a leading provider of enterprise control and automation systems and audio and video switching and distributing solutions. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including applicable regulatory approvals.

AUSTIN, TX — The focal point for Anglophiles at the 27th annual SXSW festival was once again the British Music Embassy lineup. This year’s festival featured the Wytches, Slaves, Dinosaur Pile-Up and dozens of other U.K. bands. Mid-America Sound To Demo Yamaha QL June 3

GREENFIELD, IN — Mid-America Sound Corp., based here, is planning to host a demo that will feature the new Yamaha QL Series digital audio console on Tuesday, June 3 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The demo is set for the company’s location at 6643 West 400 North, Greenfield, IN. ASHEVILLE, NC  — Moogfest, the electronic technology, art, science and music festival named for analog synth pioneer Bob Moog, took place here for five days in late April with performances at more than 10 venues. For audio reinforcement at US Cellular Center’s 2,431-seat Thomas Wolfe Auditorium, which served as the festival’s primary stage, Thunder Audio provided its recently acquired L-Acoustics K2 loudspeaker system.

EVANSTON, IL — For Philfest, a bluegrass and folk music festival held annual in memory of former Northwestern student Phil Semmer, who died in 2000, Sound Works Productions provided 10 NEXO GEO S12 (flown), four RS18 Ray Subs (ground stacked) and two NEXO PS10s speakers (for front fills), all driven with their NEXO NX4x4 amp rack. A Yamaha M7CL was used at FOH with an LS9 at monitors. The Deadly Gentleman from Boston headlined, followed by Sunnyside Up and Todd Kessler.

SE Systems Provides DiGiCo SD Series Consoles for MerleFest 2014

WILKESBORO, NC — Country music’s Alan Jackson and Merle Haggard and bluegrass icons Dr. Ralph Stanley and Ricky Skaggs were among the 130 acts over four days in late April for MerleFest 2014. As has been the case for the past 26 years, DiGiCo consoles processed much of the music emanating from the festival’s 13 stages. SE Systems provided the consoles.
