Poland’s Freedom Day Concert Supported by Outline GTO

WARSAW, Poland — For the 2014 Freedom Day anniversary concert marking 25 years since the shift in Poland from communist to democratic rule, Gigant Sound Letus provided its new Outline GTO sound system. The event, staged in Castle Square here on June 4, was attended by U.S. president Barack Obama, former and current Poland presidents Lech Walesa and Bronislaw Komorowski, close to 50 other European heads of state and various members of European royalty.

FRANKLIN, TN — Sound contractor CTS Audio, one of the first adopters of JBL’s VTX Series line arrays, recently bolstered its inventory with the purchase of 108 V20 line array loudspeakers to its inventory, plus another eight V25 loudspeakers and a number of VTX F Series F12 loudspeakers. EUGENE, OR — At a recent Lee Brice concert at the University of Oregon, George Relles Sound provided its new Meyer Sound LYON linear sound reinforcement system. The system impressed Brice’s FOH engineer, Wayne Pauley. George Relles’s recent purchase included 14 LYON-M main and six LYON-W wide-coverage line array loudspeakers, adding to an arsenal that includes six 1100-LFC low-frequency control elements and a Galileo Callisto loudspeaker management system.

In Memoriam: Mark Haynes, 1947 – 2014

FAIRFAX, CA — Audio veteran Mark Haynes passed away on the morning of July 8th, 2014 after a long bout of fighting complications and infections stemming from knee surgery. He began his audio career in the early 1970s with Showco, Inc., one of the pioneers in large-scale sound reinforcement, where he toured nationally and internationally as FOH engineer for Alice Cooper, The Band, Willie Nelson, Diana Ross, Jefferson Airplane, Joe Cocker and other headliners.
