TEL AVIV, ISRAEL — Front-of-house engineer and producer Brad Divens (Garbage, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Jane’s Addiction, Linkin Park) is one of a growing number of engineers turning to live tools from Waves Audio.

VIENNA, Austria – Joe Cocker’s recent European tour stretched from France and Germany to Croatia and Monaco. FOH engineer Bruce Jones needed to ensure fans’ favorite songs of the band were clearly audible for a variety of sold-out shows. A complete set of AKG microphones traveled with the band, and were quickly and reliably deployed every night.

ALLEROED, Denmark ― Rune Slot, live sound engineer for Danish rock band D-A-D, has turned to DPA Microphones to deliver the loud, punchy sound for which the band is famous. Slot has been on tour with D-A-D for most of this year, taking in countries such as China and the U.S. as well as Europe.

EINSIEDELN, Switzerland – Fohhn Audio’s new Focus Modular line array systems with beam steering are making their live debut at the large-scale, open-air theatre production of Das große Welttheater (The Great World Theatre) being staged at Einsiedeln Abbey here. The play, by Spanish writer Calderon de la Barca, has been performed on the abbey square of the Benedictine monastery at various intervals since 1924. In recent years it has been re-interpreted to relate to modern times.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — Local integrator Diseno Acustico (Acoustic Design) outfitted two new conference rooms within Park Inn Hotel here with CAD Wireless systems. The installation included CAD Audio WX100 UHF receivers, WX155 belt packs, WX160 goosenecks and WX150 handheld transmitters.

CHENGDU, China ― DPA Microphones played a key role at the 2013 Fortune Global Forum, held here in June. The event included a variety of presentations along with a gala dinner, with 30 traditional guzheng players, opera singers, choral and pop singers and a classical piano performance by Lang Lang. Fortune’s audio designer, Ron Lorman, worked with Ken Kimura at DPA’s office in Hong Kong to source several DPA d:facto Vocal Microphones, d:fine Headset Microphones and d:vote 4099 Instrument Microphones for the event.

LIVERPOOL, UK — Adlib’s sales and installation division, based here, has supplied rental company Stagetex, based in Merseyside, U.K., with an L-Acoustics ARCS wide / focus (WIFO) sound system. LAUSANNE, Switzerland – For Athletissima, an international track and field competition at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise here, Swiss PA company Auditech provided its recently-acquired Allen & Heath Qu-16 compact digital mixer at FOH. The annual event draws top athletes, and several world records have been set during the games.

OSAKA, Japan – The Hibino Corporation, one of the biggest entertainment production companies in Japan, has purchased Martin Audio’s Multi-cellular Loudspeaker Array (MLA) system. The purchase includes four MLA System 36 rigs plus an additional four MLD downfill and four MLX subwoofers. This gives them a combined inventory of 92 MLA, 8 MLD, and 52 MLX enclosures. The new system promises to cover venues like Nagai Stadium in Osaka (pictured here) without requiring the use of delays.

WARSAW, Poland – Michal Ostoja-Ostaszewski, who works often with the Warsaw Philharmonic, is an FOH engineer. While “FOH mixer” is not a position typically associated with a classical orchestra, Ostoja-Ostaszewski is far from your typical live sound engineer. A classically trained master musician and technology-savvy engineer and producer, Ostoja-Ostaszewski brings a modern technological perspective to Warsaw’s concert hall. As he explains, the Mackie DL1608 digital live sound mixer has proven to be the ideal mixing console for this demanding and exacting job.
