VANCOUVER, BC – PK Sound, the Calgary-based loudspeaker manufacturing company, partnered with Timbre Concerts and Crescendo1 to present the second annual outdoor Breakout Festival on June 15-16 at the PNE Amphitheatre in Vancouver, BC. The two-day, all ages festival featured a lineup that included Canadian hip-hop and R&B artists Lil Berete, Yung Tory, and NinetyFour, along with U.S. acts including A$AP Rocky, Rae Sremmurd, YBN Cordae and Saweetie.

LUTZ, FL – Idlewild Baptist Church turned to Blackhawk Audio for an upgraded audio setup at its megachurch in Lutz, FL. Blackhawk Audio installed DiGiCo SD5, SD5B and SD12 consoles and four SD-Racks connected via Optocore to support the church’s audio needs.

UNCASVILLE, CT – Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment equipped its 10,000-capacity arena in Uncasville, CT with a Meyer Sound LEO sound system that includes Meyer Sound Lyon, Leopard and 1100-LFC low frequency control elements. The Lyon arrays were among the first delivered to feature TPL-3, the latest update to Meyer Sound’s TruPower limiting.

SAN DIEGO – When Meeting Services, Inc. (MSI) won the bid to provide full production services for the San Diego County Fair, production account manager Birch Caffee took the opportunity to take the VUE al-12 Acoustic Linearity Line Array for a spin. Running for a full five weeks from May into July 4th weekend, the fair’s 27 shows featured a broad mix of artists and genres, including Dionne Warwick, Jake Owen, Toby Keith, Pitbull, and Smokey Robinson, among others.

IPSWITCH, U.K. – Ed Sheeran’s Divide world tour, which ran from March 16, 2017 to Aug. 26, 2019, raked in a reported $775.5 million from 255 shows around the world, helping the 28-year-old British artist, who performs alone, topple the record for top-grossing concert tour held by U2’s 110-show 360° tour since mid-2011.

SAINT PAUL, MN – The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts has installed a new DiGiCo SD7T Quantum console in its main Ordway Music Theater performance space, continuing the venue’s reliance on DiGiCo SD-Range technology that began when the Center opened in 2009. The new digital desk supported this summer’s production of the musical 42nd Street, which ran from July 23 through August 11.

NEW YORK – This year’s Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage series of concerts in New York’s Central Park got a boost with a new stage and audio system. To optimize the sound for attendees, the sound crew deployed a d&b KSL loudspeaker system. They also took advantage of the capabilities of d&b NoizCalc to and minimize noise complaints from nearby residents. Sound Associates served as the AV integrator for the project.

BOSTON – Mark Knopfler, touring this year in support of his Down the Road Wherever album, released last fall, has been performing with an L-Acoustics L-ISA system provided by SSE Audio Group/SSE Hire. The touring crew has managed to get the 7.1 configuration system loaded in and out as quickly as a standard audio setup.
