Jazz, Not Blues, On The Danube

BURNSVILLE, MN–The Jazz on the Danube festival (Jazz an der Donau), which ran from July 13–16, offered another excellent, highlight-filled program this year. Ingo Haasch and his team were responsible for sound reinforcement, and relied on a combination of compact Electro-Voice (EV) line array systems, Dynacord PowerH power amplifiers and EV NetMax N8000 signal processors, which was used for the first time at a major event.

CORNWALL, UK–The Eden Project hosted the premier of a new composition by acclaimed British classical composer, Graham Fitkin, collaborating with celebrated harpist, Ruth Wall. Staged in Eden's warm temperate biome, the Fitkin Wall project entitled "Still Warm" was mixed live on a 16-channel Allen & Heath MixWizard, provided by local PA company, SPS Systems.

However, Concert Systems USA's Katrina story is a triumphant tale of determination. With the help of Meyer Sound, the company was able to face down the odds and come back bigger, better and stronger than ever.

NORTHRIDGE, CA– Scorpions is a hard rock band from Hanover, Germany that helped to define the musical genre. The venerable group is perhaps best known for their 1980s rock anthem, "Rock You Like a Hurricane." Scorpions has been touring Europe throughout 2006 in support of a recently-released live concert DVD (One Night in Vienna). The band's July 23 outdoor show at Tsirium Stadium in Limassol, Cyprus was handled by rental firm MKG Touring Technologies, with the company's JBL VerTec VT4888 mid-size line array system.

ALBERTSLUNE, DENMARK–The new LoungeSub from Cornered combines sound reinforcement with extra seating area. Designed as a pouffe, the LoungeSub is as much a piece of furniture as it is a subwoofer and therefore suited for venues in which the sub cannot be hidden.

CHESPEAKE, VA–Craft-Work Sound, Inc, of Chesapeake, Va, recently deployed their EV XLC line array rig for the 24th Annual Norfolk Jazz Festival, held in Town Point Park, Norfolk, VA, on August 4-6. This installment of the area's largest and longest-running Jazz fest included headline performances from the Guitar and Saxes Tour (featuring Gerald Albright, Richard Elliot, Jeff Golub and Peter White) and Brian Culbertson.
