ODESSA, TX — The Wagner-Noël Performing Arts Center, which opened recently at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB), based here, includes the 1,819-seat Wagner Noël Theatre and the 189-seat Rea Greathouse Recital Hall within a total 109,000 square feet of space. The PAC has been designed to support the technical production needs of touring Broadway shows, popular entertainment, dance and a broad range of music programming in addition to student recitals and concerts.

Last Chance to Nominate Sound Companies for 2012 Hometown Hero Honors

LAS VEGAS — This is the last week in June, 2012 — and also the last week for FRONT of HOUSE readers to nominate the company that is most worthy of receiving the Parnelli Award for Best Regional Sound Company in the U.S. and Canada. The Hometown Hero ballot will be posted throughout July, and FOH readers will then get the chance to select which, among all the nominees, is most deserving of the honor in five U.S. regions and all of Canada. The regional winners will appear on the Parnelli Awards ballot for a final round of voting in August. The ultimate winner will be presented with the Parnelli Award at the gala ceremony set for Oct. 20, 2012 at the Mirage in Las Vegas.

Radiohead Alters European Concert Schedule After Stage Collapse

TORONTO — In the wake of the June 16 stage roof collapse at Downsview Field here, which killed drum tech Scott Johnson, injured three others, and destroyed the band’s unique lighting and audio setup, Radiohead has announced the postponement of seven shows that had been scheduled in Europe from June 30 (in Rome) through July 9 (in Switzerland). The tour is expected to resume July 10 in the south of France.

BAKU, Azerbaijan — For the 57th annual Eurovision Song Contest, with semi-finals staged May 22 and 24 and the finals on May 26 at the 23,000-capacity Baku Crystal Hall, Cape Cross Studio + Filmlicht GmbH worked with Cologne, Germany-based Toneheads for the live broadcast’s audio support.
