Cerwin-Vega’s new P-Series pro loudspeakers includes two active models. The P1500X is a 2-way, bi-amped, full-range system with a 15-inch woofer and compression driver on a hemi-conical horn, powered by a 1,500W Class-D amp. Features include a built-in mixer with enhanced EQ, VEGA BASS boost and high-pass filters, as well as a polymer enclosure with 2-position pole cup mount and built-in rigging points. The P1800SX is an 18-inch powered subwoofer with a 2,000W Class-D amplifier. The P1500X lists at $1,199;the P1800SX is $1,499.

BSS Audio BLU-805 and BLU-325 Processors

BSS Audio brings AVB (IEEE Audio Video Bridging) functionality to its Soundweb London family of digital signal processors with the addition of new Soundweb London BLU-805 and BLU-325 devices, which are AVB versions of the BLU-800 and BLU-320 CobraNet siblings from which they are derived. Both new devices offer configurable inputs/outputs, compatibility with all Soundweb London input/output card options, logic processing, the 256-channel Soundweb London digital audio bus and GPIO. The devices support up to 64 incoming AVB channels and 64 outgoing AVB channels at 48k Hz, or 32 in/32 out AVB channels at 96k Hz. Configuration, control and monitoring is via HiQnet London Architect.

Audinate Dante Networking Controller Update

The new Dante Controller v3.2.9.2 for both Windows and Mac now supports Yamaha HA Remote mode toggling for supported devices as well as Mac OS X 10.8. Dante provides high performance digital media networking over both 100 Mbps and 1 Gigabit Ethernet. Support for HA Remote in the latest version of Dante Controller, together with the new release of Dante-MY16-AUD firmware, means that the head amps in Yamaha Rio3224-D and Rio1608-D I/O rack units can be remotely controlled from such equipment as M7CL or LS9 digital mixing consoles.

Alcons Generic Loudspeaker Library

Alcons Audio has released high-resolution measurement and simulation data for its L-series pro-ribbon line-arrays and Q-series pro-ribbon column arrays. The data is supplied in GLL (Generic Loudspeaker Library) format and can be used with EASE 4.3 acoustic prediction software. The new data can also be used with the new ARC2 (Alcons Ribbon Calculator) array set-up tool, which is based on EASE Focus 2. The new data promises to give users a more accurate prediction of how an Alcons sound system will perform in a proposed acoustic environment. Going forward, new systems will be added into the library base on a regular basis.

The Eli Series includes the EL1503-B, with 15 three-inch drivers, which is designed to work with the ELW110A-B powered low frequency driver and amplifier combination. The ELW110A-B has a 10-inch low frequency driver and an onboard Class-D amplifier, with preconfigured DSP settings.

Shanghai International Jazz Festival Gets Boost from Compact PA

SHANGHAI — The Budee-sponsored Green Note Stage at the Shanghai International Jazz Festival featured audio mains that produced some hefty output. The L-R setup included seven Martin Audio MLAs and one MLD in each hanging array, and four MLX subs per side on the ground. But the gear itself was compact and light in weight, only 790kg (1,742 lbs) per side. Other gear at the stage included an Avid Profile at FOH, Avid VENUE SC48 on monitors, Lab.gruppen FP 10000Q amplifiers and mics from Blue Microphones and Sontronics.

Pori Jazz Festival Venue in Finland Uses RCF TT+ Gear

PORI, Finland — For Ultra Music Nights @Theatre, one of the venues used for experimental and modern music at the Pori Jazz Festival staged here, Noretron Communications provided L-R configurations of six TTL11-AH/AB assemblies and TTS26-A subwoofer managed by an RDNet control interface. RCF gear was found elsewhere at the festival as well; a total of more than 30 RCF TT+ Series cabinets were in use in five different stage locations.

Venetian in Las Vegas Gets Animated with L-Acoustics

LAS VEGAS — A large-format projection on the façade of the clock tower at the Venetian Resort and Casino in Las Vegas was accompanied by a soundtrack heard throughout the piazza on an L-Acoustics ARCS II system provided by AVDB Group. The clock tower is a replica of the one at Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy.
