Princeton’s Frist Theatre Using VUE al-4 Line Array

PRINCETON, NJ — For the 239-seat theatre within Princeton University’s Frist Campus Center, PanAVid worked with the venue’s production manager, Jim Streeter and his colleague James Allington, audio engineer at the university’s Richardson Auditorium, on an upgrade. The new L-R setup includes dual four-element al-4 arrays yoke-mounted on poles atop a pair of VUE hs-25 powered subwoofers. A single VUE V4 systems engine provides power and processing for the eight al-4 elements. An Avid VENUE S3L console handles the mix.

Sennheiser to FCC: Make Auction Winners Pay Those Hurt by Loss of 600 MHz Range

OLD LYME, CT — Noting that the FCC’s pending spectrum auction jeopardizes future use of wireless microphones operating in the 600MHz range, forcing content creators to reinvest in wireless gear, Sennheiser formally proposed that winners of the new spectrum compensate owners of wireless microphone equipment that will be rendered obsolete as a direct result of the planned spectrum repacking.

SEDONA, AZ — Clearwing Productions engineer Trevor Powers, pictured here, used one of the rental company’s Yamaha CL5 digital audio consoles with two Rio 3224-D input/output boxes for the FOH mix for an ABBA tribute tour in the U.S. recently. The ABBA Mania tour, promoted by Handshake Group of Manchester, U.K., began Nov. 1 in Elkhart, IN and ended Nov. 24 in Sedona, AZ.

Music Group Relocates Turbosound Operations in U.K.

KIDDERMINSTER, U.K. — Music Group announced that Turbosound, which had been based at Partridge Green in Sussex, U.K., will relocate its headquarters to Music Group’s facilities here, which also house its Midas and Klark Teknik operations. Turbosound’s R&D operations, meanwhile, are moving to Music Group’s research center in Manchester, U.K., which currently houses more than 60 engineers responsible for Midas and Klark Teknik product developments.

MLA Mini Takes On Westpoint Arena for U.K. Retail Conference

EXETER, U.K. —Martin Audio noted the commercial debut for its Martin Audio MLA Mini. Plymouth, U.K.-based Pyramid AV used a system comprised of 24 new MLA Mini, six MSX subs and three flying frames in an effort to sweeten the sound within a “soulless shed,” 7,500-capacty Westpoint Arena. FOH engineer Simon Honywill worked with Martin Audio’s Andy Davies on the mid-October gig, an annual conference for U.K.-based retailer SPAR.
