Offered for free download, the SSL OffLine Setup Application (SOLSA) is a PC-based app for creating and editing SSL Live console showfiles. Nearly anything done on a Live console can be configured “offline” when access to a console is not possible. Functions include console configs, setup of Fader Tile Layers and Banks, Stagebox and I/O routing, scene creation and automation editing. SOLSA also lets users add effects, manipulate channel processing, bus routing and VCA assigns. Built-in user guides have tutorials to anyone wanting to learn console operations.

The all-passive ProMS2 single-channel mic splitter has a mu-metal shielded Eclipse ET-MS10 transformer that’s linear from 20 Hz to 20k Hz with under 0.01% distortion. A mic input with -30dB pad allows using high-level sources without saturation. Its three outputs include: a direct-coupled out (normally connected to the main P.A.) with a return path for 48 volt phantom if a condenser mic or active DI is used; a transformer-isolated out for eliminating ground loop hum and buzz; and a direct aux out with a ground lift switch for feeding stage monitors, recording gear or broadcast truck. Retail is $140.

This free upgrade for XL2 Data Explorer users expands NTi’s PC-based app providing spectral noise analysis and reporting of noise data from the XL2 sound level meter. New features broaden the noise data analysis, provide day-night level calculation and enable shared data storage. For noise logging, users can define specific time periods (markers) and calculate the averaged spectrum to help identify tones and potential frequency bands causing noise annoyances. Results are displayed in a scalable chart to fit a report.

JoeCo has released its BlackBox BBR1MP, which puts a 24-track, 24-bit/96kHz recorder with onboard mic/line preamps into a single-rack chassis. Mics connect via rear panel D-Sub connectors; an optional 2U XLR breakout panel is also offered. In addition to multi-tracking, the system can also create a simultaneous stereo mixdown, with access to all parameters via an iPad app. User-installable Dante and MADI interface cards are optional, adding 24 channels of Dante or MADI I/O to the unit.

Hear Technologies is shipping its new Hear Back PRO platform for individualized monitor mixes. The system uses a rack mount audio I/O hub and up to 32 mixers, each with local mic and intercom input as well as 16 rotary controls for channel volume and pan and headphone/stereo line outs to drive your phones, wedges or wired/wireless IEM’s. All cabling is via standard Cat-5e carrying all audio signals and powering over Ethernet to drive each mixer.
