Digidesign D-Show Profile Mix Rack System

The Digidesign D-Show Profile Mix Rack System is the newest addition to Digidesign’s VENUE family of live sound systems. Developed specifically for small- and mid-sized performance venues, houses-of-worship, touring and fixed installations, or as an upgrade for existing analog systems, the D-Show Profile Mix Rack System combines a D-Show Profile console with the new Mix Rack, a compact 11-space rack enclosure that incorporates all audio I/O (stage and local) and DSP into a single chassis.

ENGLAND — ADLIB Audio supplied sound for the Sessions Stages at both sites — Weston Park Stafford and Hylands Park Chelmsford  — for the 2008 V Festival. The Sessions Stages featured rising new talent. Crew chiefs Richie Nicholson (Chelmsford) and Hassan Essiahi (Stafford) led two teams of ADLIB technicians and experienced one of their most enjoyable events of a mega busy 2008 festival season for the Liverpool-based company.

NEW YORK — When the B-52s hit the road, their unique, slightly wacky sound — most of which is set to a danceable New Wave beat — creates an atmosphere of fun and revelry few can resist. Such has been the case during the band’s recent string of performances. The current touring schedule commenced in April, included five weeks as part of this year’s True Colors Tour, and recently included opening for what was (supposedly) to be the final concert appearance of the Police at Madison Square Garden. Throughout the entire tour, guitarist Keith Strickland has been performing with a wireless instrument setup — and the system of choice is Lectrosonics.

ENGLAND — Dubbed KylieX2008, Kylie Minogue’s latest tour enjoyed rave reviews from critics, no doubt aided by two DiGiCo consoles at the front-of-house and monitor positions. FOH engineer Chris Pyne and monitor man Rod Matheson are both long-term DiGiCo D5 users. This time, however, Chris swapped his D5 for a new SD7.

JBL Professional is now offering its VRX928LA-WH compact, portable line array loudspeaker and VRX915S-WH subwoofer in a white installation version. The development of the VRX928LA and VRX915S systems in a white version is the result of feedback from systems designers and integrators, who must consider the visual element of a sound system for environments ranging from houses of worship to civic facilities.

TORONTO — FreedomFest is an annual community event that celebrates freedom and those who have sacrificed their lives maintaining that freedom. Matthew West, the multi-Dove award nominee and sought-after songwriter who catapulted onto the Christian music scene in 2003, headlined the event. Adamson and Hire Company Atomic Professional Audio based in Rutland, Vt., sponsored the 2008 concert sound system. Adamson concurrently hosted a clinic on sound system design and technology aimed for church facilities of all sizes and styles of worship.

BOSTON — A mainstay in Copley Square for 18 years, the Hard Rock Cafe Boston has opened its doors in the historic Faneuil Hall area on Clinton Street.  It is one of the city's largest entertainment destinations with more than 16,000 square feet of space including a 514-seat restaurant, the Cavern Club, which features Live Music, not to mention a collection of iconic rock ‘n’ roll instruments.

BUDAPEST — Europe's summer festival season offers an abundance of riches, but Budapest's Sziget Festival stands out as one of its largest and most musically diverse. Held on an island in the Danube, the weeklong festival featured smashing performances by icons ranging from Róisín Murphy to Alanis Morissette, REM and Iron Maiden. With nonstop entertainment at more than 20 different venues and an audience of 385,000 fans, the organizers enlisted a total of more than 400 Meyer Sound loudspeakers to cover the festival's largest stages.
