Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre Equipped with Harman Gear for Bard’s Birthday

LONDON — Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, a wooden replica incorporating elements of the first two Globe Theatres (1599-1613 and 1614-1642), opened in 1997. To mark the Bard’s 449th birthday in late April (the exact date is unknown), the theatre presented The Magic Numbers. ARC Sound, equipping the main theatre with a comprehensive sound reinforcement system for the first time, provided Harman components including a JBL VerTec speakers and Soundcraft Vi consoles.

“Michael Jackson: One” To Be Heard via Meyer Sound Gear

LAS VEGAS — Jonathan Deans, sound designer for Broadway’s 2013 Pippin and Cirque du Soleil resident productions in Las Vegas including LOVE, KA, Zumanity, O and Mystere, has specified a Meyer sound system for Michael Jackson: One, the forthcoming production based on Cirque’s Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour. Previews for the show are set to begin May 23, with an opening date set for June 21.

Designed specifically for the concert touring and large-scale installation market, and first shown at the Prolight+Sound in 2010, Alcons Audio said it has now concluded LR24’s initial beta phase.

Riedel Earns Sports Emmy Award for Red Bull Stratos Broadcast

NEW YORK — Wuppertal, Germany-based Riedel Communications won a Sports Emmy Award in the “Outstanding New Approaches Sports Event Coverage” category for the company’s involvement with the Red Bull Stratos project. Riedel received the honor from the National Academy of Television Arts and Science at the 34th Annual Sports Emmy Awards, held May 7 in New York City.

BRASILIA, Brazil — Capital Inicial, a post punk/New Wave band that established early momentum in the 1980s and 1990s, has continued to ride that wave of success through the 2000s to the present day. FOH engineer Luis Mazzei has been optimizing the band’s sound with a different kind of Waves — the studio plugin software — since 2001. He was an early adopter of the company’s Soundgrid for live performances as well.
