McCune Audio Brings DiGiCo SD10 to Monterey Jazz Fest

MONTEREY, CA – McCune Audio/Video/Lighting, which has been handling the audio services for the Monterey Jazz Fest since the 1960s, purchased their first DiGiCo, an SD10, and used it at this year's 54th annual festival. The SD10 handled FOH duties at the Dizzy's Den stage, which featured interview segments during the day and evening musical performances from John Pizzarelli, Donny McCaslin, Wil Blades and Hiromi, among others.

BUENA PARK, CA – Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. announces the development of the MY8-LAKE processing card for Yamaha digital products. The new card, to be distributed worldwide by Yamaha, adds new Lake Technology to PM5D, PM5D-RH, M7CL, LS9, DM2000, DM1000, 02R96, and 01V96 digital consoles, as well as DSP5D Expander, DME24N/64N processors, and TXn power amplifiers.

ST. LOUIS, MO – Dave Sinko, sound engineer for progressive bluegrass band the Punch Brothers, has been mixing the five-member band using an APB-DynaSonics ProRack rack mount monitor board. "This mixer is perfect for us," said Sinko.

NASHVILLE – The 45th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards aired live in 5.1-channel surround sound Nov. 9 on ABC from the Bridgestone Arena. The audio crew, no strangers to live broadcasts, included audio producers Michael Abbott and Tom Davis; sound provider ATK/Audiotek; FOH mixers Patrick Baltzell and Rick Shimer; monitor engineers Michael Parker and Jason Spence; and broadcast mixers M3 (Music Mix Mobile) with John Harris and Jay Vicari. KNOXVILLE, TN – The engineers supporting the 2011 Alison Krauss & Union Station (AKUS) Paper Airplanes tour, including FOH engineer Cliff Miller and monitor team Bernie Velluti and daughter Haley, have been using DiGiCo SD10 consoles. Miller specified the dual consoles used for the tour after first trying them out for AKUS at Merlefest in 2010.

MIAMI – Kenneth Williams, FOH engineer and production manager for Erykah Badu's current world tour, will appear at Soundcraft's "Mixing With Professionals" seminar Dec. 6. Williams has also worked with artists including Estelle, Raheem DeVaughn, Corbin Bleu, LL Cool J, Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, the Goo Goo Dolls and many others.

KNOXVILLE, TN – Thunder Audio is supporting Dolly Parton's Better Day world tour with Meyer Sound gear. For the tour's U.S. dates, FOH engineer and production manager Mike Fechner and monitor engineer Jason Glass specified of 24 MILO and 16 MICA line array loudspeakers; eight 700-HP subwoofers; eight UPJ-1P VariO loudspeakers; 18 MJF-212A stage monitors; and a Galileo loudspeaker management system.

VANCOUVER, BC – BC Place reopened Sept. 30, replacing its inflatable dome roof with a new cable-supported retractable roof design. The project also included the largest installation of JBL VLA line array gear to date. Clair Brothers Audio Systems installed 160 JBL VLA601-WRC 3-way line array loudspeakers in the venue.
