D-Tools and SnapAV Renew Partnership

CONCORD, CA — D-Tools, Inc. announced that AV product manufacturer SnapAV renewed its D-Tools Manufacturer Vantage Point (MVP) program Partnership. Headquartered in Charlotte, NC, SnapAV makes close to 1,000 custom AV products for customers in the U.S., Canada and Australia. Their product data within the D-Tools database was updated recently to help users specify products for end user customers.

Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Performances Supported by PRG, Clair Global

NEW YORK — The 2011 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, held Nov. 30, was a full-scale production with performances by Justin Bieber, Tony Bennett, Cee Lo Green, Michael Bublé, Neil Diamond, Carole King, Katharine McPhee, Javier Colon (NBC’s “The Voice”) and Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush. Production Resource Group (PRG) once again provided the audio system. It included JBL VerTec VT4887 compact line array elements and VT4881 compact arrayable subwoofers. NBC also hired Wireless First, a Clair Global Company, for 86 channels of wireless RF that spanned a full city block and featured the company’s new CF 1090 Fractal Antenna.

Capitol Theatre in Moncton Upgrades with Yamaha PM5D Console

MONCTON, NB, Canada — The Capitol Theatre, which hosts more than 200 events annually, was looking to upgrade its audio system with a user-friendly digital console. The technical crew, led by Eric Hache, opted for a Yamaha PM5D for the 800-seat venue, moving the previously-installed LS9 console to the theatre’s monitor position.

Craneway Pavilion Equipped with Allen & Heath iLive-T Consoles

RICHMOND, CA — The first big hurdle facing touring sound veteran John Griswold, who took on the role of production director/operation for Craneway Pavilion, was to deal with the industrial, earthquake-stricken venue’s acoustic challenges, including an “insane” reverb with an 11-second delay. The second was to shift from his personal preference for analog consoles to the venue’s need for digital. Allen & Heath’s iLive T made the second challenge far less significant than the first.

Jovanotti Concert Stage Collapses; One Worker Killed, Eight Injured

TRIESTE, Italy — Scaffolding and truss crumpled at about 2 pm prior to a Dec. 12  rock concert featuring Jovanotti at the 6,943-seat PalaTrieste. The collapse killed one stage worker and injured eight others, according to press reports. About 20 workers had nearly completed construction of the structure for Jovanotti’s Ora Tour at the time of the accident. The worker who died at the scene, Francesco Pinna, 20, was a college student. Authorities and investigators restricted access to the venue and the concert was canceled.

MONTPELLIER, France — Working with A+ Architects and Enjoy Group, SLS equipped the newly-constructed Arena Montpellier with an audio system for use with sporting and corporate events, along with a full digital networking and intercom system for the venue.  Adamson’s Metrix system was chosen after a shootout with gear from three other manufacturers. The centrally-flown configuration can change to standard L-R for special events.
