TORONTO – Fourteen-inch-thick plaster walls posted a dual challenge for Westbury National Show Systems, Ltd.’s Brock McGinnis, who was tasked with updating the sound system at Toronto’s National Club: Along with the inability to run cable through the historically-significant walls, “it’s very much like having dinner in the middle of a cathedral,” McGinnis noted, of the reverberant acoustics within the 200-capacity, 1,950-square-foot Main Dining Room. McGinnis chose a pair of Iconyx IC8-R columns to meet the acoustic and aesthetic requirements of the installation.

MERRILLVILLE, IN — Brian Wynn of Broadway Music used JBL VerTec line arrays to update the sound system at the 3,400-seat Star Plaza Theatre. The setup includes left-right arrays of eight VerTec VT4888DP-DA midsize powered line array elements each, with a center array of three VRX932LAP powered Constant Curvature loudspeakers. The installation also includes VT4880ADP-DA powered full-size arrayable subwoofers, hung three per side above the stage.

Klipsch Taking Action Against 23 Alleged Headphone Counterfeiters Based in China

INDIANAPOLIS — Klipsch Group, Inc. (KGI), which owns audio brands including Klipsch, Energy, Mirage and Jamo, recently took legal action against 23 alleged counterfeiting parties, all based in China. The legal remedies issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York include allowing the suspension of service to domains and sellers on trade boards selling counterfeit Klipsch headphones. In addition, the order allows for restraint on funds in the payment processing and bank accounts of those selling the counterfeit products. To date, KGI has restrained 20 of defendants’ accounts having over $750,000 in funds from the sale of counterfeit goods.

ATK Audiotek Provides JBL VerTec at American Music Awards

LOS ANGELES — For the American Music Awards (AMA), which featured more than a dozen live performances at Nokia Theatre LA Live, ATK Audiotek brought in an audio system that included 70 VerTec VT4889 fullsize line array loudspeakers, 15 VT4887 compact line array loudspeakers and five VRX932LA Constant Curvature loudspeakers. They were used for the live broadcast in conjunction with more than a dozen JBL VT4880A fullsize arrayable subwoofers that were already installed in venue.
