Riedel to Provide Radio Communications for 2014 Commonwealth Games

WUPPERTAL, Germany — Riedel Communications will supply all radio communications equipment and services for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The company is providing more than 6,000 radio handsets along with a terrestrial trunked radio (TETRA) digital network and a Motorola MOTOTRBO digital radio repeater system. Both the TETRA and MOTOTRBO systems are dedicated, fully monitored, and serviced solutions.

South Korea-based Alpha Sound Joins Adamson Energia Network

MONTEREY, CA — Audio industry veteran Michael Reeves, 54, died from injuries sustained in an accident when an automobile collided with him while riding his road bike in Monterey, CA on June 21, 2014.  Michael’s wife Mary and daughter Katy were close by at home and many family and friends were able to assemble quickly to support and comfort them during the tragedy.

NEW YORK — For Holler If Ya Hear Me, billed as Broadway’s first hip-hop musical, the rhymes of Tupac Shakur are heard through an audio system supported with gear from Masque Sound. Sound designers David Patridge and John Shivers worked with a setup that included DiGiCo SD7T Live Digital Console, d&b audiotechnik V-Series line array system, d&b D80 amplifiers and a Yamaha PM5D-EX digital console. The performers were outfitted with Sennheiser SK5212-II radios and EM 3732-II receivers, as well as DPA d:fine microphone booms fitted with a 4066 element.

Miley Cyrus Bangerz Tour Gets Support from Sennheiser Digital 9000 System

AMSTERDAM — Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour recently completed its run through Europe following a North American leg earlier this year. Cyrus has been using a Digital 9000 microphone system from Sennheiser with an SKM 9000 handheld transmitter and MD 9235 capsule. The tour returns to the U.S. for the first half of August before moving to the Caribbean, Mexico, South America and Australia this fall.

“Night of Hope” at Yankee Stadium Gets PWS Assist

BRONX, NY —  Professional Wireless Systems provided frequency coordination for Night of Hope at Yankee Stadium. PWS managed a total of 115 frequencies and faced two main challenges. Not only did PWS need to survey the area to track down interfering ENG crews that were not coordinating with the show’s wireless frequencies, but the company also had to be on standby for inclement weather during the outdoor event, as sudden storms open the potential for dropped signals and channel interference.
