LOS ANGELES — The 57th Grammy Awards, broadcast on CBS Feb. 8 from the Staples Center, featured an unprecedented 23 live musical performances, led off by AC/DC, pictured here. With so many artists performing in an RF-intensive urban location, the production team relied on Shure gear to overcome the challenge of providing flawless audio from everyone’s wireless microphones and in-ear monitors.

MADRID — FOH and Monitor engineer Hugo Pinzon used Waves MultiRack SoundGrid to run Waves plugins for the musical, La Vuelta al Mundo en 80 Días. Pinzon, who has also supported Latin Grammy-winning acts and artists including Aterciopelados and Andres Cabas, noted that mixing musical theater productions is “much easier” using the plugins.

WUPPERTAL, Germany — Bringing advanced radio communications technology to the catwalk, Riedel Communications partnered with facility management provider Gegenbauer to provide an elegant and reliable communications package for Panorama Berlin, a leading trade show during Berlin Fashion Week. For the three-day event, Jan. 19-21, the two companies supplied a custom solution with more than 100 mobile radios and 20 headsets supporting security, traffic management, and event organization and access.

University of Wyoming Installs L-Acoustics Kiva in “Dome of Doom”

LARAMIE, WY — For the University of Wyoming’s 15,000-seat Arena-Auditorium, known as the “Dome of Doom,” Pro Sound & Video installed a new sound system that includes six arrays of nine L-Acoustics Kiva enclosures, six SB18i subs, seven 12XTi coaxials positioned over the arena floor and 17 LA4X amplified controllers for  loudspeaker power and processing. The WJHW-designed system is part of a $12M upgrade to the facility, the home court to the NCAA Division 1 Cowboys basketball team.
