LONDON – Capital Sound provided a Meyer Sound system for "The Gift of Music-An Evening with Julie Andrews," staged at the O2 Arena with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Ian Fraser on May 8.
For Andrews, who performed memorably in Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, and The King and I, it was the first performance on a U.K. stage in 30 years.

Andrews, now 74, noted that a 1997 throat operation had affected her singing capability, but she still sang solos including "A Cockeyed Optimist" from South Pacific and "My Funny Valentine" from Babes In Arms and joined in on "Do-Re-Mi" and "Edelweiss," among others. Although top-billed, she was also joined by other performers during the course of the evening.

Capital Sound provided a Meyer Sound system based on 36 MILO line array loudspeakers and 16 700-HP subwoofers. The system also includes side flown arrays of MICA and M'elodie line array loudspeakers and groundstacked M'elodie, UPM-1P, JM-1P arrayable loudspeakers, and additional 700-HP subwoofers.

John Pellowe, Meyer Sound's Constellation project director and sound engineer for the late Luciano Pavarotti, performed FOH duties for the concert.

Presented by Marshall Arts Ltd and AEG, "The Gift of Music-an Evening with Julie Andrews" was coordinated by Mike Stewart of Marshall Arts.
