TORREON, Mexico — Pro audio veteran Douglas Schauer passed away January 18, 2021 from complications stemming from a stomach tumor. He was 75.

Born August 16, 1945 in Kenmore, NY (a small village in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area), Schauer was interested in music and electronics from an early age. He played keyboards with a lot of different bands and worked as a freelance FOH and studio engineer.

Relocating in the Seattle area, Schauer became involved with the Pacific Northwest Section of the Audio Engineering Society and worked with Greg Mackie at TAPCO and Audio Control; he later held a long stint as marketing manager at Symetrix, before working at Mackie Designs.

Schauer eventually retired and moved to Mexico, where he met his wife, Alejandra Cortes Iturriria. They married in 2008, settling in the central Mexican town of Torreon.

He is survived by his son Sam Schauer, daughter Julie Schauer Ertmann, sister Cecily Schauer Havens, wife Alejandra Cortes Iturriria and many friends and colleagues throughout the pro audio industry. Rest well, old friend — you will never be forgotten.

No plans for a memorial service had been announced at press time.
