ZURICH, Switzerland — ZAP Audio, K-array’s Swiss distributer, has specialized in portable and installation projects over the last two years. The recent challenge set for ZAP Audio, Flavio Rudy and the team were asked to install an audio system in the head offices of SZU (Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn), the Swiss Railway company.

On this occasion, Flavio Rudy — Zap Audio sound specialist proposed a new configuration with K-array. The meeting room where K-array was installed was 7.5 meters x 13 meters in size and would be predominantly used for meetings and presentations. It was important to have an audio system that could deliver clear intelligent speech with enough power for music and movie presentations.
The challenge with this project was the size of the room and it was an important requirement to be discreet in looks and not be obtrusive in the room which would be regarded as distracting for the meetings.
“The solution was simple” explained Flavio. “We chose K-array for this project because of the slim array technology. We can install high performance speakers with little, to no sign of them in the room”. ZAP audio installed two KV50s paired with one KU36 and a KV50 which are mounted into an acoustic wall absorber which has been applied to make the room more comfortable for meetings. The subwoofer, which we all know is difficult to install in a small meeting rom and usually finds itself on the floor however with the size of the K-array speakers the subwoofer was fixed on the ceiling. This whole set up was powered by a KA84.
SZU were delighted with the results “It is effective to have clear and open spaces within the offices some of our meetings go on for hours and with the K-array speakers the room feels great!”
