Red Bull’s Culture Clash returned once again this year to a much larger venue, with Void invited back to provide a sound system for one of the UK’s most popular bass culture ambassadors. The event, which was held at Wembley arena, bore witness to four stages, four sound systems and over 100 artists. Grime collective Boy Better Know were assigned the new Void Arcline 12 system and battled against the three other stages for the trophy. The winner was decided by the loudest audience reaction and after all the SPL readings were taken, Boy Better Know were declared the winners, creating what many are saying was the heaviest bass sound ever heard in a venue so large.
UK touring and events company GHB Hire supplied and deployed the Void system for the winning act, which utilised a recently developed medium format line array enclosure called Arcline 12. Company director Alex Skan said “This was the first outing for our new Arcline 12 system and the perfect place to test its capabilities. We were confident in its abilities to cover the venue adequately but had no idea it could deliver the mind blowing SPL’s and quality it did that night. It exceeded everyone’s expectations in every way.”
Each side of the system consisted of a single hang of ten Arcline 12 enclosures with eight Arcline 6 enclosures used as balcony fills. Void Infinite V2 amplifiers powered all the Arcline hangs. Sub was courtesy of Voids epic touring sub the Stasys X.
Boy Better Know’s FOH mix engineer and system deployment specialist Rog Mogale said “This was all about pleasing the crowd and proving you can get the job done on a realistic budget and timescale.”
