CHICAGO — Ticket holders arriving for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s performance on Sept. 22 were turned away as they learned that the musicians union called for a strike. The stalemate over pay and health benefits threatens scheduled concerts later this week, along with a tour to New York and Mexico in early October. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra also canceled concerts through the end of September as the result of an ongoing pay and benefits dispute. The musicians there have been locked out since early September, effectively canceling the first full month of their 2012-2012 season.
