VILLINGEN-SCHWENNINGEN, Germany —Gear from ProAudio Technology, based here, supported a variety of different events during the 2012 summer concert season, with music genres ranging from pop to classical, techno and hip hop.
One of the larger events supported by ProAudio Technology gear was the Rock am Fichtenwald festival in Vöhringen. The bands there have included Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, J.B.O, Freiwild, Clawfinger, Dog Eat Dog and many others. This year’s lineup featured H-Blockx, Subway To Sally, Heaven Shall Burn and Exilia (just to mention a few).
The festival takes place in a tent, so the impulse to “go big” conflicts with flying height restrictions for both audio and lighting gear. Another factor influencing gear choices is the need to rebuild the stage show, band-to-band. While one band is still playing, the backline, stage risers for the drummer, pyro effects and a lot of specific periphery already stand by on wheels for the next band.
To meet the unique needs of the festival, ProAudio Technology’s SW18 subwoofers, supported by the DELTA14.4- DSP system amplifiers, returned for this year. New this year were corresponding HT16 horntops and MT12 multi-purpose loudspeakers for the nearfield. In all, 24 SW18 subwoofers were used as a cardioid bass array for the main PA along with eight HT16 tops and two MT12 multi-purpose loudspeakers.
The system was designed to deliver an outstanding dynamic over the entire frequency range without ever sounding stressed. “The fact that we only needed three DELTA14.4-DSP amps for the whole PA system including nearfield, is almost miraculous and caps it all off,” said the system engineer at the venue.
