In reality, almost any end-address microphone can be used in an overhead hanging application, whether for speech, theater, orchestra or choir sound reinforcement. Yet an unobtrusive — almost unseen — appearance is often highly desirable in this application. Therefore, the most popular choice tends to be a miniature condenser capsule that can be separated from the electronics, for a near-invisible appearance in most venues. We surveyed a selection of what’s available and uncovered a bounty of models that combine excellent performance in a stealth design.
