THACKERVILLE, OK and WATKINS GLEN, NY – Severe weather forced the cancellation and postponement of recent outdoor concerts including the Backstreet Boys’ Aug. 18 show at the WinStar Casino in Oklahoma, where 14 showgoers were injured by a wind-blown entrance truss, and the Aug. 17-19 Phish Curveball Festival in Watkins Glen, NY, where flooding from heavy rain compromised the safety of the drinking water.

LAS VEGAS – H.A.S. Productions provided VUE Audiotechnik al-Class line arrays and hs-Class subs for TLC’s performance at the Red Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The group, which first grew to prominence in the 1990s, still packs the crowds in, drawing more than 7,000 fans, the poolside venue’s biggest show to date. The main PA consisted of left and right CST hybrid clusters each consisting of eight VUE al-12 large-format elements, with four medium-format al-8 elements for down fill.

NEW YORK – SIA Acoustics, Anderson Audio and TMG Systems designed and installed a new sound system for Pier 17, which packs outdoor crowds atop of a 1.5-acre rooftop concert space near New York’s South Street Seaport. To meet the sound requirements for both concert-goers and the venue’s urban neighbors, SIA steered their client for the project, the Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC), toward an EAW Adaptive sound system.

Theatrical Sound Design for ‘Fame’ in Montreal Includes Yamaha Rivage PM7 Console at FOH

MONTREAL – The Saint Denis Theatre recently used a Yamaha Rivage PM7 Digital Audio Console supplied by Solotech for its production of Fame, a Broadway-inspired musical.
