NORTHRIDGE, CA — Harman acquired Melbourne, Australia-based SM Pro Audio, which will now operate as a division of Harman Professional.  Blake Augsburger, president, Harman Professional, noted that the privately held company’s innovations and engineering talent could enhance Harman’s Soundcraft mixing products, starting with the Ui Series mixers featured at Winter NAMM 2015, and a wide array of other pro audio and MI-related offerings in the near future.

More details from Harman (www.harman.com):

“I am very pleased to welcome the SM Pro Audio team to the Harman fold. Together, we look forward to bringing a new depth of innovation to the broadest array of customers around the world,” Augsburger said. “To that point, we have already envisioned ideas and concepts where SM Pro Audio products and technologies could benefit Soundcraft and Studer mixers, dbx signal processing, AKG transducers and more. We expect to introduce Harman products that feature SM Pro Audio technology in early 2015.”

SM Pro Audio was a privately held business.  Additional details of the transaction are not being disclosed at this time.
