LAS VEGAS – Longtime FRONT of HOUSE contributing writer Steve Savanyu has been appointed Technical Editor. Terry Lowe, founder of the magazine and president of parent company Timeless Communications, joined FOH editor George Petersen in welcoming Savanyu aboard.

“Having known Steve for 30-plus years, his path in the live audio world has been varied,” Lowe said. “He brings multiple areas of expertise to our readers,” he added, noting Savanyu’s experience in the manufacturing, performance and installation side of pro audio. “We’re delighted to have him on the FOH team, and I’m sure our readers will be happy to read more from this industry veteran.”

FRONT of HOUSE editor George Petersen also penned a hearty welcome to “The New Guy” in his Editor’s Note in the just-published April 2025 edition of the magazine.

“With a resume ranging from bread-and-butter local sound gigs for his Buford T. Hedgehog company to major productions including U.S. presidential debates, inaugurations, festivals, sporting events, Papal visits, trade shows and massive outdoor hot-air balloon air races, The Akron Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra and more, he’s pretty much done it all,” Petersen wrote. “He’s also devoted years to audio education, from his popular “Stepping up the Stream” event live-streaming article series (FOH cover story, May 2020) to his previous 25 years as the Director-Educational Services at Audio-Technica U.S.”

Savanyu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science-Electronics Engineering from Youngstown State University. His hobbies include modding and restoring vintage audio gear, and he loves attending pro audio tradeshows. Next on his calendar: InfoComm 2025, with exhibits open from June 11-13 in Orlando, FL. “Say hello if you see him checking out gear on a show floor,” Petersen concluded, “and welcome to the FOH team!”
