ANAHEIM, CA — Waves Audio announces the formation of the Waves Live Division, a dedicated branch addressing the current and future needs of the live sound market sector, focusing on the needs of FOH, monitor and live sound/recording engineers. Along with a live division Web site (www.waveslive.com), the company is releasing its D-Show Enabler, making over 50 Waves TDM plug-ins compatible for the live environment.
Waves' history in the live sound market includes MaxxBCL, a product designed to help deliver more bass out of line arrays and other PA systems. Since that product’s introduction over three years ago, it has been used by leading sound companies on tours in a variety of venues, for houses of worship and at venues around the world.
Waves Live Bundle, released in Nov. 2006, is a processor package that accompanies Digidesign's Venue consoles. FOH engineers including "Big Mick" Hughes (Metallica, Led Zeppelin), Ken "Pooch" Van Druten (Linkin Park, System of a Down), Phil Strong (Kanye West), Cirque du Soleil's Jonathan Deans and Leon Rothenberg now use Waves processing.
With the Waves Live Division, Waves will continue to introduce new software for live sound, giving live engineers access to the same plug-ins heard on records, in movies and on video games. From equalizers, channel strips and reverbs, to effects, compressors and limiters, artists can also take their studio settings into a live performance environment, match the sound of vintage gear and reduce the need for rackmounted gear.
The new division has also announced that over 50 of Waves' plug-ins are now compatible with Digidesign's D-Show platform, using the Waves D-Show Enabler. Waves TDM plug-in bundles like the SSL 4000 Collection, V-Series, The API Collection and MaxxVolume are also now available for use in live sound.
Asher Bitansky, Waves director of business development, has been appointed to oversee the business side of the Live Division's formation.
"Waves has an unwavering commitment to great sound and to offering performers and engineers the tools they need," said Gilad Keren, CEO of Waves. "With the Waves Live Division, Waves can now offer more formal, dedicated efforts to serving the needs of this substantial group of professional audio engineers."
