Starlite Productions, Metropolitan Acoustics Provide Networked System for HS Auditorium

WARMINSTER, PA — Working with Metropolitan Acoustics, Starlite Productions upgraded the audio system at William Tennent High School’s 2,000-seat auditorium here as part of a building-wide renovation. The system was engineered to provide high-intelligibility for presentations and rich, encompassing sound for live concerts and theatrical productions. The client, the Centennial School District, also wanted to complete the project in 90 days.

2000-seat William Tennent High School auditoriumThe design called for a main L-C-R system consisting of six EAW KF730P line array modules with two SB1002 large-format flyable low-frequency boxes per side and a center cluster of five EAW QX 564 loudspeakers and three QX 118 companion subwoofers.

Renkus-Heinz SGX41s are used as a matrixed bridge to create a seamless front fill, and a host of speakers from dB Technologies (four F8s, four F12s) and Tannoy (four Di6Ts, 12 CVS8s, two Reveal 601a’s) rounded out the installation.  Lab.gruppen CS and FP series amps power the system.

The AV setup also includes a 10K lumen projector with 2K resolution.

A second iLive console was installed in a classroom setting to enable the students to get real live mixing and recording experience while learning the new technology, all without affecting the auditorium sound.

The Starlite team noted the inter-connectivity within the system, which lets those using it to send any signal to any destination (and back) digitally.  “It was a unique opportunity to integrate quite a bit of cutting-edge technology in a lower school setting,” said Bill Corbett, Starlite Productions’ project manager.  With the completion of the theater’s audiovisual system, the district now has the showcase system that conveys their dedication to the arts.
