Rumor Nightclub Rocks Philadelphia with Meyer Sound

PHILADELPHIA — Rumor is drawing capacity crowds to its two large dance floors, a bar room, and a private VIP “vault.” Ian Hoffer of Aurora Sound and Light Design LLC, who designed and installed Rumor’s sound system, as well as all lighting and effects, chose an all-Meyer Sound array for Rumor’s main room, using four CQ-2 loudspeakers and six 600-HP subwoofers, and, for DJ monitoring, two UPJ-1P VariO loudspeakers and one UMS-1P subwoofer. The bar room features three more UPJ-1P VariO loudspeakers.

Although the club often runs to capacity, the Meyer Sound gear doesn’t, according to general manager Mark Marek.  “I knew that it would never run to full capacity in a club environment,” he said, “which would leave us all the headroom, all the fidelity, and still give people the sensation they were looking for, which was ‘feeling’ the sound. Is it excessive? Absolutely. But many of those who walked in since we opened made a positive comment about the sound system.”

A different loudspeaker brand was initially intended for the bar room, Hoffer confides. “But once the owner heard the Meyer Sound loudspeakers, he wanted UPJ-1Ps for the bar. When I have the chance,” Hoffer adds, “I would always rather use Meyer Sound because I think it’s the best on the market.”
