BUENA PARK, CA – Monitor engineer Robert Bull is known for mixing artists such as Martina McBride and Michael McDonald as well as television shows such as Nashville Star. Bull has mixed on it all, both analog and digital. When he needs to take the digital route, he requests the Yamaha PM5D.
"I am a diehard analog guy, but there are times when analog is just not feasible," said Bull. "When I use a digital console, I need to have confidence in the gear, which is why I always request a PM5D. I need to get around on the console very quickly in a manner that works for me, and the Yamaha PM5D allows me to do that by having so much of where I need to get to on the mixing surface, that I don't have to take my eyes off of the stage."
Bull said that whether doing fly dates or TV shows, the PM5D's built-in effects and flexibility of putting things where he needs them via the user-definable keys enables him to walk right up to the console and start mixing, confident that when a scene is recalled, it is right where he left it. "It helps an old analog brain get the job done," Bull added. "It doesn't get any better than that."
