SAN DIEGO — Paul Svenson, owner of PS Audio Video, used a single K-array KR400S ultra-light powered speaker for the graduation ceremony at San Diego Bernardo Heights Middle School earlier this year, which featured an 80-foot-wide outdoor stage. Svenson consulted with Sennheiser area sales manager John R. Borja on the project. (Sennheiser is K-array’s distributor).

More details from K-array (www.k-array.com):

“In previous years, people on the periphery of the 1,200-person crowd complained about not being able to hear very well, but this year, we received compliments,” said Svenson, who has been the school’s trusted provider of audio solutions for more than a half-dozen graduations in recent years. “I believe this was due to the effective sound dispersion without any appreciable drop-off of the KR400S.”

PS Audio Video Uses K-array KR400S for Bernardo Heights Middle School GraduationThe KR400 is an audio system made up of two speaker types: one for medium high frequencies (a column housing 12, 3.15”loudspeakers with neodymium magnet) and a subwoofer with a 21” loudspeaker for low frequencies. As an end product, each side of the system consists of two column modules and one subwoofer, to be assembled on-site using a quick and simple set-up mechanism. Conceived as an active “plug and play” system that is versatile and easy to transport, it is ideal for music and spoken word, and perfect for contexts such as theatres, clubs and cinemas, for installations or live performance. In fact thisUntitled1 system offers a frequency response ranging between 30 Hz and 19 kHz, extensive dispersion and 138 dB in peak SPL. In addition it has a DSP that also offers 16 presets (which can be integrated by the customer). These features were perfect for the sound distribution graduation ceremony, as it required uniform coverage as well as high spoken word intelligibility. Svenson adopted the KR400S after using a pair of the speakers to provide audio for an indoor concert for 3,000 people. The compact speakers were able to deliver so much power that Svenson immediately added them to his audio toolbox and now uses them for indoor and outdoor events. “The K-array KR400S has surprised me time and again for its ability to throw long distances while still maintaining a consistently high sound quality,” Svenson said. “It was clearly a graduation for K-array too.”
