MERIDIAN, MS – After graduating from college in 1965, Hartley Peavey was, in the spirit of the times, inspired to "do his thing" – to build amplifiers. (He received his first patent the year before.) He set up shop with a few thousand dollars and a logo he had sketched out while still in high school, and Peavey Electronics was born.
This year, Peavey Electronics marks its 45th anniversary, crediting its longevity to both the innovation documented by its long roster of U.S. patents and the ability to make gear that is competitive in both audio quality and price.
Peavey notes that it has been building amplifiers continuously under the same ownership and management longer than any other major American amplifier manufacturer. Together with its musical instrument manufacturing, Peavey now produces more than 2,000 products sold in 137 countries and has earned more than 180 patents worldwide.
