Life on the road can be unpredictable. Justin Wyman, Owner of JWI Audio, knows this all too well as he tours with a variety of bowling associations, including the Pro Bowling Association (PBA), Pro Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) and the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). Wyman must ensure every guest can hear without difficulty inside loud, extremely reverberant bowling alleys. Fortunately for him, Ashly Audio has the ideal solution for acoustically difficult spaces. With the help of Ashly Audio column loudspeakers, processors and amplifiers, Wyman has built a complete mobile audio system for every bowling alley he works in.

Based out of Rochester, New York, Wyman is perfectly positioned to work closely with the Ashly Audio team, which is based 20 minutes away in Webster, New York. Wyman uses a variety of Ashly Audio products that he has configured into a touring rig for easy set up and tear down as he moves from venue to venue.

“I’ve been an Ashly Audio customer for a long time now. Whenever I need a repair, the team is easily accessible and quick to provide a solution. This has been a key factor in our long-standing relationship,” said Wyman. “It was a natural choice to stay with Ashly Audio when they came out with the column loudspeakers. I knew it would be versatile technology backed by top-of-the-line customer service.”

Wyman uses the Ashly Audio 3.6SP processor and FA250.4 amplifiers. With active front panel controls and an extremely intuitive user interface, the 3.6SP processor thrives in a dynamic live sound environment, making it the perfect choice for busy bowling alleys. The front panel of the processor is hands-on and allows quick access to all control parameters by offering dedicated function buttons, eliminating the need for hidden sub-menus. This a much-needed specification for Wyman as he is constantly on the go.

The FA Series amplifiers Wyman utilizes deliver 1,000W in 1RU and are great for the highly-specific installs he deals with. The amplifiers easily blend into the alley, delivering phenomenal performance to every player and spectator.

The precision and directivity of the equipment cuts through the sound of bowling balls, pins falling and applause to deliver clear and audible audio to every guest. As crowds range in size from 150 to 350, Wyman needs to ensure every sound, no matter the volume, is heard in every corner of the building.

With endless entertainment throughout every bowling center, there can be lots to be distracted by. To combat this, Wyman also uses IS3.8P column loudspeakers. The column loudspeakers can be mounted on either side of the scoreboard where they easily fit in and disappear, ensuring no architectural or visual intrusion. The players can focus on the game, and the audience can focus on the scoreboard.

With their linear array configuration, the IS Series delivers tight, controlled vertical dispersion with a long throw angle and ultra-wide horizontal dispersion. Consistent front-to-back and side-to-side coverage helps everyone hear the same thing, regardless of position. The IS column’s performance is further enhanced by dedicated speaker

tuning presets incorporated in the 3.6SP processor.

“I have continued to solely work with the Ashly Audio team over the years because they just can’t be beaten in form factor and sound quality,” noted Wyman. “Ashly Audio’s technology is adaptable, reliable and high-quality. They will continue to be my first choice.”
