COEUR D'ALENE, ID – Pat Lambert of Lambert Audio Engineering spec'd loudspeakers and DSP from EAW for the new Stillwater Welcome Center located at N-Sid-Sen Camp and Conference Center, a 270-acre multi-use facility on the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene in Northern Idaho.
The camp and conference center offer sports fields, a ropes course, basketball and volleyball courts and an outdoor chapel.

"The facility does not have trained audio techs on site, so I knew it was crucial that I provide an extremely flexible and easy-to-operate system," Lambert said. "EAW's DX1208 DSP Matrix Mixer fit the bill perfectly."

To ensure even coverage for the foyer and porch zones, Lambert chose a combination of EAW VR51 full-range loudspeakers and VRS12 SMS4 surface mount loudspeakers, powered by two EAW CXA80 power amplifiers.

The system was set up with four operating modes selectable via the UR-2 keypads located at the audio rack and in the main room. Sound levels in the foyer, porch and main room can be controlled via separate volume control zones.

Randy Crowe, managing director for N-Sid-Sen, had good things to say about the sound system, echoing the sentiments of musicians and sound engineers who had used the system for more complex audio needs.

"This past week, I got a request to change a preset to allow an additional set of inputs," Crowe relayed. "The whole process, from plugging in to tuning and setting up the additional inputs and adding them to the auto-mix settings, took less than 30 minutes."

"This system is very adaptable," added Lambert. "This makes future changes very manageable, and allows the system to grow and evolve with the facility."

N-Sid-Sen had planned to add a new video system to their facility. The DX1208 provides the ability to leverage the Logic outputs to turn on the projector and lower a motorized screen with the push of a button – "exactly the kind of simple operation that will meet the needs of this facility and many others," Lambert noted.
