SAN ANTONIO, TX – SDR Specialties, working with architect Steven Durr Design and consultant Drury Southwest, came up with a compact, efficient and unobtrusive installation for the Meso-American fantasy world known as the Aztec Theater, which was originally built in 1926. Steve Hennig of SDR relied upon an infrastructure built around Middle Atlantic enclosures.
"I chose Middle Atlantic because of their reputation for quality," Hennig said. "I've been using their products for years because they're well made, always up to code, and all of the details are right, like the holes always line up perfectly, which can be very important. Their products are always right on the money.
"The challenge for the Aztec Theater project was that every time we had to drill a hole or change anything, we had to make sure that we maintained the authentic look and preserved all of the wall treatments from the original theater, something the client was very particular about."
The new A/V system integrates seamlessly with the venue and includes Extron Video/Audio Distribution amps; Yorkville YSM2P Studio Monitors; an Aphex Dominator 720 Peak Limiter; a Crestron CP2E Control Processor; an Extron ISS 506 Switcher and a Tascam DV-DO1U Video Player; Sony HVR Z5U Handheld cameras and Sony BRCH 700 Remote Controlled cameras.
"Bottom line, Middle Atlantic equipment was in integral part of our successful completion of this project," Hennig said. "The company offers broader and more diverse configuration of products, which distinguishes them from their competition. This project required a unique design and unique product set only they could offer."
