SAN FRANCISCO, CA – From Sept. 12-14, hundreds of technology entrepreneurs gathered for TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2011, a cyber-world forum and start-up competition. Presenters from Turntable.fm, LinkedIn, Quora, Intuit and Facebook were heard through 18 Meyer Sound MINA line array loudspeakers provided by Swank Audio Visuals of St. Louis, MO.
Swank AV set up the gear in the Concourse of the San Francisco Design Center, an elongated pavilion constructed of glass and steel. The audience area was elongated as well – 80 by 220 feet. The space and its reverberant surfaces presented challenges with intelligibility.
To overcome those challenges, Swank AV used dual front arrays of six MINA loudspeakers on each side supplemented by a center-axis delay cluster of six MINA loudspeakers. A Galileo loudspeaker management system with a Galileo 616 processor provided system drive.
The event awarded $50,000 to the start-up venture judged most innovative and likely to succeed. The next TechCrunch event will be held in Beijing, China, in October 2011.
