WESTMINSTER, MA – McCauley will be delivering two of their new M421 quad 21" subwoofer to this year's SoundForums.Net Expo, which will be held at the Wachusett Village Inn here May 16-17, and followed by a two-day class focusing on Rational Acoustics' Smaart v.7 on May 18-19.
The new subwoofer will be the first product reviewed on SoundForums.Net's Test Drive forum. The M421 promises low distortion, high-impact bass reproduction and has a continuous power handling capacity in excess of 12,000W. With a flat response from 20 to 100Hz, a measured peak output of 143dB SPL at four meters, and a total weight under 490 lbs., the M421 is expected to deliver a new level of low frequency energy for its size.
The new design features four 21" long excursion neodymium motor transducers with 6" voice coils that exhibit near-linear BL product through the range of cone motion. The drivers are configured in an isobaric connection and coupled to an FEA optimized acoustic transformer. The subwoofers are equipped with integrated handles, casters, skids and travel dolly, and optional flyware is also available.
The forthcoming SoundForums.Net Test Drive forum will offer forum users the opportunity to participate in user-led product reviews. By getting products into the hands of community members, both the community and the manufacturer can benefit from real world experience with their products, as well as near-real-time feedback from the forum. Test Drive products will take extended tours of duty, spending time with several different engineers or sound companies, to garner feedback on the practical use of the product.
